On this trip, we'll explore the intricacies of why Bordeaux is one of the greatest wine regions in the world. Savor on some delectable french cheese, go truffle hunting in the french countryside, as well as paying a few visits to stunning medieval villages with centuries old tales. Not to mention countless vineyards to satisfy everyone's taste buds.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at the Chateau.

Arrival at Bordeaux Airport, followed by a transfer to our hotel. A lovely 18th century Chateau situated on the outskirts of Bordeaux. Our tour begins at 6pm with a meet and greet with our group and guide. We'll explore the Chateau's vineyard followed by some wine tasting and a welcome dinner.

Day 2: Wine tasting and Truffle hunting.

After breakfast, we'll depart our Chateau. Our first stop is the town of Libourne, a small town that rose to prominence in the middle ages thanks to its wine commerce. We'll have a short walk around the town and visit its local cathedral which is said to include relics from Biblical times. Later, we'll visit Libourne's most prominent Chateau. Chateau Siaurac, which has one countless awards both nationally and internationally.

Onwards we'll continue our trip along the French countryside towards the Dordogne. One of the hidden regional gems of France. The area is well known for its picturesque villages. We'll meet a local truffle hunter, who will bring us across an adventurous walk truffle hunting with his furry friend. Who will show us the secret to finding one of the gourmet world's most delicate and expensive items. With our discovery of truffles done, it's time to enjoy them with a nice locally prepared gourmet lunch.

Later we'll continue our trip across the countryside to Sarlat la Caneda. A medieval village situated in the middle of the Dordogne region. Enjoy some free time in the evening to wander around the town which will be our home for the next 3 days.

Day 3: Discovering medieval France, kayaking and a traditional French cooking class.

Today, we'll enjoy the beauty of the surrounding areas. The Dordogne is one of the most beautiful areas in France, brimming with picturesque honey colored stone villages and lush sloping farms and vineyards. We'll begin our day with a visit to Sarlat, a lovely town renowned for its cobbled streets and 9th century Benedictine Abbey.

Later we'll head to the riverbank and enjoy a relaxing hour of kayaking on the Dordogne river. Afterwards we'll head to a Goose farm, where we'll uncover the secret to Foie Gras. In the late afternoon we'll visit one of Dordogne's best cookery schools, to learn how to cook some exquisite French cuisine and enjoy our own dinner.

Day 4: Chateaux and prehistoric caves and cheese farms.

Today, we'll explore some marvelous Châteaux across the Dordogne region. First, we'll visit Chateau De Beynac, perched on a rock overlooking the stunning valleys of the Dordogne river followed by Chateau Castelnaud, acclaimed for its countless stories of battles and stories from the middle ages.

With our morning of Chateaux done, we'll head to a local cheese farm, where we'll uncover why French fromage is some of the best cheese in the world. Later, a further discovery into the depths of civilization. We'll visit the Rouffignac Cave. A cave infamous for its prehistoric drawings. Thought to be over 13,000 years old !!!!!

We'll finish our afternoon with a cruise on a traditional french river boat. Free evening to enjoy the delights of Sarlat.

Day 5: Visiting the wine regions of Bordeaux.


Today, we'll depart the Dordogne region and head westwards, towards Bordeaux. On our way we'll stop at an acclaimed vineyard. Followed by a visit to St Emilion. Known as France's wine village. St Emilion is acclaimed for its over a dozen vineyards surrounding the village, as well as the birthplace of the very sweet and delicious macarons pastry. We'll explore the town and its quaint establishments. As well as a few wine cellars.

In the late afternoon, we'll head to Bordeaux. After checking in at our hotel, we'll have free time to enjoy the amazing Fête de la Musique.

On the 21st of June every year France's main cities go into a festival mode for one night. With the main squares of cities like Bordeaux lighting up in rhythm, with countless bands of different genres playing in each street and square. It's a time of amazing fun !!!

Day 6: Discovering Bordeaux

After a delightful and festive night. Our exploration of Bordeaux begins in the late morning with a relaxing walking tour of the city's historical quarter. We'll visit the Cathedral and Watchtower. As well as the historical Girondins Monuments. After lunch, we'll head to the Museum of Wine and Business. Where we'll learn about the centuries old wine trade in Bordeaux, and of course, more wine tasting. Free evening to enjoy the delights of Bordeaux.

Day 7: Sensing live art in a submarine bunker and a dinner river cruise.

Today we'll have a free morning and early afternoon to enjoy some me time. Maybe go shopping for souvenirs and more wine in some of the city's boutique establishments. Or, maybe enjoy some nice french pastries with coffee in a local cafe.

In the late afternoon we'll enjoy one of Bordeaux's most fascinating attractions. The Bassins des Lumieres is an amazing live art and visual exposition created inside what was, a former nazi submarine bunker. We'll enjoy some spectacular displays of beauty and masterpiece in what was originally aimed to be a place of war.

In the evening, we'll head to the banks of the Garrone river and go on a river cruise, where we'll enjoy a traditional french dinner along with wine while enjoying the night lights of the city of Bordeaux. A great way to enjoy our final night.

Day 8: Au Revoir !!!!

It's time to say goodbye to Bordeaux and France. But as always, once you visit France, it will enchant you for life, and you will most certainly return. Our tour ends after breakfast. Transfer from our hotel in Bordeaux to Bordeaux airport.
